When we awaken, we become aware of our true nature: we are immortal spiritual beings in a human body having an experience in a third dimensional reality. This is why many use the term, spiritual awakening, as it is the awakening to the spiritual nature of one’s being. Another aspect of that nature is: we are all one, also called unity consciousness or nonduality.
In the third dimension, duality exists, and we experience things we could not in higher vibrational realities. Here, the perception of being separate appears to be reality, when in truth, it is an illusion. We are ultimately all one infinite being. While many have offered examples to explain this concept of the nature of our true reality, it’s full comprehension can remain elusive at first. That stated, I offer my tree analogy as I find bringing realities of higher dimensions down to earth a bit easier to comprehend.
Imagine a tree in the height of summer, a very large tree, with numerous limbs and branches that lead to a vast number of leaves. If God, Source, the All, the Prime Creator, the Goddess, Creation – whatever you want to call it – is the tree, then we are all the leaves. While part of the tree, and while created from the tree, each leaf is itself individual, yet each leaf is part of the totality of a single tree. One would not state the leaf is separate from the tree, for it is a part of the tree itself. When the leaf falls it is still part of the tree, just as a fallen branch is part of the tree. From the barren branch springs forth a bud that grows into a leaf that eventually changes and inevitably dies. After a time of dormancy, upon the same branch, a bud reappears which grows into a leaf. While it is on the same tree, this bud is new, and this leaf different. Such is the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, each originating from the one source.
Unity consciousness is the realization that we are all one. We are all the infinite consciousness getting to know itself by experiencing itself via different points of view. You and I, for example, are each in our own bodies, living our own lives, having our own experiences. The illusion of separation seems very real, because we are each in our own respective bodies, and those are separate from one another, much like the leaves on the tree. However, as you may know, we are not our bodies. We inhabit our bodies, and without them, we could not experience this realm of physicality via our five senses. What we are is the consciousness within those bodies, and that consciousness is one.
The illusion that we are separate helps to keeps us divided. We do not understand that when we hurt another, we hurt ourselves, because we do not realize we are all one. It also keeps us from realizing our true power. If we understood our unity, and worked together as one, we could create anything. We are, after all, part of the prime Creator, the Source. We are all creators, and our greatest strength lies in our unity. If enough people awaken to their true nature, we could change the world. The powers-that-be are aware of this, and they do their best to keep us slumbering in the dark.
To awaken, to enter the light of awareness, we must seek. We must question everything we think we know to be true. We must think for ourselves, trust ourselves, and look beyond the obvious. We must understand we live in a world where illusions abound. The illusion of separation, some believe, is the greatest illusions of all.
