S.B. Lacroix was born in Massachusetts and began writing poetry at the age of fifteen. While in high school, a poem she penned about dying and the afterlife was published in a local newspaper. When the Pastor of a nearby church paid her a visit at school eager to discuss it, she declined and rethought sharing her poetry in public forums. It wasn’t until adulthood that her poetry would be featured in anthologies and other publications.
A misfit and rebel, S.B. has always been aware she did not fit in. Her outsider status taught her to think for herself and to embrace her perceptions even if they were not understood by others. She spent many years writing her way through the darkness of mental illness while working and raising her children.
S.B. found writing to be cathartic, especially the composition of poetry. She views writing poems as a way to turn her pain into beauty. She believes suffering can be a catalyst for the expansion of consciousness, silence and solitude are essential for sanity, and introspection is a powerful muse.
When she’s not writing, she works at home and practices meditation, yoga, and qi gong. She enjoys nature, taking walks, and viewing life through the lens of her camera. She resides in an enchanted little town in New England with her husband, son, and mystical gray cats.
